From the Windy City, to the Mountains of North Carolina, to the beaches along the Emerald Coast….October has been an exciting and busy month!! The month began with a weekend trip to Chicago f

or a few sessions…and a mini getaway with my love! The weekend was full of walking, seeing past and future couples, good food, and chilly weather! Here’s a few things I realized during my trip:

1. A 0.9 mile walk in the windy city with your suitcases might as well be a full 9 mile hike

2. W Hotels are my guilty pleasure. I’m addicted.

3. cab drivers are crazy. period.

4. 2 hours is not enough time to shop on Magnificent Mile. You need 2 days. times 2.

5. be prepared to gain 10 pounds from all the amazing food.

6. bring pants a size bigger. you’ll need them. walking 12 miles a day doesn’t put a dent in diminishing the damage done.

7. I miss my Parisian days of hopping on the metro to spend the day in the city. Metros may be a bit smelly, but it was nostalgic nonetheless.

8. even though I’ve become a small town beach gal, I love and need my city fixes.

9. I could’ve eating 3 orders of the blue cheese garlic bread at Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse. But then I would’ve needed pants 2 sizes bigger.

10. Getaways are a huge key to happy marriages! I think Jared and I talked more in the first 12 hours of Day 1, then over the last 12 months!

Here’s a quick instagram recap of our trip…

After arriving in Chicago and dropping our bags off, Jared and I hopped in a cab {this was our first crazy cab driver of many. Chicago Cab drivers and NPR news do not mix well. especially in rush hour traffic} and headed to the Lincoln Park zoo to meet up with Holly, Rob and their little man Max! Rob and Holly {aka Rolly} got married in Florida in 2009….so to see again them and in their home city with Little Max for their family session was so fun…and not nearly long enough!! I seriously loved being in the park with the city scape in the background…you just don’t see that down here. The tallest thing around here besides palm trees, are condos. Oh…and I have to give a huge shout out to Jared for walking around with “call Me Maybe” blasting through his iPhone in the middle of the park so Max could bust a few moves and grins!!
